Self-rising flour

Self-rising flour contains 1-1/2 teaspoon of baking powder and ½ teaspoon of salt per cup of flour and provides convenience. Different millers have different blends of leavener.

It is perfectly uniform blend of leavener and flour. Self-rising flour will eliminates the problems of uneven mixing of the leavener with the flour resulting in an uneven texture.

It is milled from soft wheat and is used for dumplings, biscuit and pancakes. Self-rising flour is not well suited for used in yeast leaved products.

Self rising flour also not does not withstand the rigorous mixing or kneading of the bread machine.

Recipes stipulating self rising flour have already been adjusted to compensate for these additions, but the salt and baking powder need to be omitted if using self-rising flour in recipes based on use of all-purpose flour.
